Printing

This is a rough draft of how to setup a printer:

In Windows 10:

  1. Click on Start -> Settings -> Printers -> Add Printer to bring up the new printer wizard.
  2. Click on Next -> Local Printer -> Creat a new Port.
  3. Choose Standard TCP/IP Port.
  4. Enter the printer name and choose the appropriate driver from the tables below:
  5. For printing to Xerox0b, 3a, 4a and 4b, read this instruction.
  6. For printing to Xerox1b, download Xerox driver from xerox website to install the Xerox D110 printer-copier, using your copy code to finish the setup, read this instruction.

In Mac OS X:

  1. Open System Preference-->Print & Fax -->click on "+".
  2. Click on the IP tab--->choose LPD for Dell Printers or HP JectDirect for HP printers.
  3. Type in the hostname of the printer in the address field, printing using "Generic PostScriptPrinter" for Dell printers and "select a driver to use" for Dell printers.
  4. For printing to Xerox0b, 3a, 4b and 4a, read this instruction.
  5. For printing to Xerox1b, download Xerox driver from xerox website, use Xerox driver "Xerox D110 Copier-Printer, 2.82.0", using your copy code to finish the setup, read this instructionbeing sure to look at the pictures to read between the lines.

In Linux:

To set up on of the Xerox general use printers follow these instructions.

To set up a group / lab restricted printer:

  1. Make sure you have sudoer privilege on your machine.
  2. Install CUPS and system-config-printer from your linux package manager. (YUM, apt-get ... etc)
  3. Type sudo system-config-printer in Terminal to launch the configuration window.
  4. Click "New" or "Add" and select Network Printer > AppSocket/HP JetDirect
  5. Type the full hostname of the printer you wish to connect. (eg. tweety.stanford.edu)
  6. Make sure Duplex Unit is checked in installable options.
  7. Fill out the printer descriptio. (Name, Description and Location)
  8. Print a test page when you finish.

General Use Printers

You can use these printers from nearly anywhere on campus, including the wireless network. You must have a copy code in order to login to the copier and print your job.
