It will be a fireside chat around Ahmad (who received a Masters in Structural & Earthquake Engineering) and Nicole (who received a masters in CS) and their journey from being Stanford students to founding One Concern. (one of our partners will moderate)
Although Stanford engineering student Ahmad Wani survived being marooned with his family during the catastrophic flood of 2014 in Kashmir, India, he spent seven days wondering whether he would live or die before they were rescued. That was when he decided to dedicate his studies to creating a next-generation disaster response platform designed to save every single life possible in a natural disaster.
Ahmad met computer scientist Nicole Hu and earthquake expert Tim Frank, and together they channeled their collective passion into figuring out how to apply data science and machine learning to aid disaster response. Their award-winning research project turned into 1Concern.
