HCI Seminar: Design Fiction, Julian Bleecker, Near Future Laboratories

Human-Computer Interaction Seminar

Title: Design Fiction
Speaker: Julian Bleecker, Near Future Laboratories
Date: November 10, 2017
Time: 12:30pm - 1:50pm
Location: Gates B01

Abstract:
Design Fiction is the use of prototype objects that tell stories about possible near futures. In the world of storytelling, whether film, narrative, visual or written, the “props” that fill out the story often say as much about the storyworld as the narrative itself. Design Fiction harnesses this power of props by allowing them to become prototype objects upon which the designed near future world takes on meaning.
